Sakiet El Misk - Bhersaf Municipality

This project was subject of a design competition in 2011 where six architectural firms were running.

The main idea was to suggest a traditional building at the beginning of the boulevard reviving the old Bikfaya “souks” and constituting a new landmark at the entrance of the town.

A simple volume: typical tiled house flanked by an arcaded gallery along the street. A pedestrian piazza was designed primarily to extend the length of the shopping gallery and create a special event on the main boulevard.

Site Integration

This project had the advantage of being situated between two roads: one main horizontal boulevard to the south, and a secondary sloping road to the north. Our design consisted of limiting all car accesses to the north lower side, while keeping the south elevation totally dedicated to a free pedestrian circulation.
