La Piara had a very special program:  design a building that could take all the warehouses of the company on ninety percent of it's built up area, leaving the remaining ten percent for the management offices.

In fact, the dominant feature on the elevations were thickly insulated blind walls. We had to design the right treatment for these walls by showing dry storage rooms as one part and frozen warehouses as another.

We chose to place the administration offices on the upper floors of the building. The difficult part in this project was the intricate traffic on the ground floor due to the small size of the land. The incoming trailers were to be accommodated in priority, together with their unloading platforms, close to the freight elevators.

Six different storage levels were to be reached from these platforms; two of which were in the underground, where deep freezing was to be located.

The customers entrance had to look like one of an office building, linking the upper floors of the building through passenger elevators.
